PROFESSIONAL WORK HISTORY:

I have more than 12 years of experience across different countries and various sectors of health, including management and clinical. After completing the Bachelor of Physiotherapy, I started working in a multispecialty acute care hospital in Mumbai, India, and worked for 7 months before I decided to pursue the Master’s of Physiotherapy, specialising in paediatrics. After completing this 2-year full time course, I started working as a paediatric physiotherapist in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Clinic and gradually climbed up the ladder and got promoted to be a senior paediatric physiotherapist. I also helped patients in home care with various neurological conditions, musculoskeletal conditions and respiratory care. Later, I decided to move to Australia and pursued the Master’s of Advanced Health Management and worked in a national health services accreditation agency, getting well versed with Australian healthcare safety and quality standards. I have also worked as a customer experience manager for the virtual Physiotherapy organisation.

SPECIALTY/INTEREST AREAS:

I have several years’ experience in all areas of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. My strengths lie in working with paediatric patients, supporting their journey toward independence and an improved quality of life. During my time as a physiotherapist at Kids Marathon for 5 consecutive years, I developed and implemented targeted strength training programs and managed acute injuries on-site, often in resource-limited settings. In addition, I have a strong clinical interest and growing expertise in neurophysiotherapy across all age groups. I am confident in assessing and treating a wide range of neurological conditions such as stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and acquired brain injuries. My approach is rooted in functional goal-setting, neuroplasticity principles, and an interdisciplinary model of care to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.

WHAT MAKES ISHA A GREAT PHYSIOTHERAPIST?

“I look at the patient as a whole, and not just their ailments and pain. I believe in caring with compassion, healing with skills and touch with kindness. I empathise with the patients and understand their needs, hence modifying my treatment plans according to them. I acknowledge that every patient is different, even if they have similar clinical conditions, and treat them as per their needs and unlock their potential to restore functional capability and bring joy of accomplishment to the patient. I am a strong believer in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, believing that through movement we heal, grow, and connect with the world around us to achieve the best possible outcomes.”

WHAT DOES ISHA ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?

Outside work, cooking is kind of a therapy for me, and I enjoy cooking and trying new dishes and cuisines. Also, I like long drives especially during the dusk as I enjoy photographing the sunset. Some other activities I like doing are listening to music, playing board games and regularly playing badminton.
